Method and definitions

CTR = clicks ÷ impressions × 100. For email, choose delivered emails and unique clicking recipients instead. Target clicks = round up(denominator × reference rate).

Keep clicks and impressions from the same platform and period. For ads, repeated clicks can make event-based CTR exceed 100%; for email use unique clickers and delivered emails. The reference rate is your input, not a verified benchmark.

Worked example

2,000 clicks from 100,000 impressions gives 2% CTR. Reaching a 3% reference on the same exposure requires 3,000 clicks.
