Method and definitions

Win rate = won ÷ (won + lost). Sales velocity = open qualified opportunities × average deal value × win rate ÷ average sales-cycle days.

Open opportunities are excluded from the historical win-rate denominator. This is a steady-state planning metric, not daily recognised revenue or a close-date forecast. Use consistent qualified-opportunity criteria, mature cohorts and cycle measurements. At least one closed opportunity is required.

Worked example

20 wins and 60 losses give a 25% closed-opportunity win rate. With 100 open opportunities, $10,000 average value and a 60-day cycle, modelled velocity is $4,166.67 per day.
